THE BEST HOTEL OF THE WORLD IS IN ISTANBUL:
FOUR SEASONS ISTANBUL AT SULTANAHMET
The Four Seasons Istanbul at Sultanahmet has been awarded “The Best Hotel of The World”.
The results of the hotel votes made every year by Travel+Leisure , one of the most respected travel publications in the world, have been announced.
Four Seasons Istanbul at Sultanahmet achieved great success and was selected as the “World’s Best Hotel” and “Europe’s Best City Hotel” (followed by “Four Seasons Istanbul at Bosphorus as second in Europe”).
In the voting made by hundreds of thousands of readers –including the most distinguished travelers of the world– each hotel is evaluated based on many criteria such as service quality, food, location … Therefore, the result obtained in the voting is very valuable both for the hotel and for the prestige of the country where the hotel is located.
Four Seasons Sultanahmet is one of my musts every time I visit Sultanahmet. It is worth to divert your way just to be immersed in the beauty of the architectural structure.
Although the building was originally designed in French style to be used as a guesthouse, it was later decided to be used as a prison and was built as the first jailhouse of the Ottoman Empire capital between 1918-1919.
Unfortunately, world-wide well-known novelists such as Orhan Kemal, Kemal Tahir, Sebahattin Ali, Necip Fazıl Kısakürek, Aziz Nesin, and famous poets such as Can Yücel and Nazım Hikmet Ran stayed in this prison as well for a while.
Some Turkish classics; “Ward 72″, “The People of the Captured City”, and “Portraits of People from My Land”, were written behind the bars of this prison.
The structure represents a perfect example of the “First National Architecture” period where Ottoman influence meets the neoclassical style.
Congrats and many thanks Four Seasons Sultanahmet. It is a well-deserved award.
