Setúbal is easily accessible from Lisbon, making it a perfect day trip or a weekend getaway. You can drive, take a train, or catch a bus from the capital, all of which take about an hour. The scenic journey will prepare you for the picturesque landscapes that await you in Setúbal.

What to See and Do

1. Discover the Natural Beauty

**Arrábida Natural Park**: This stunning park is a must-visit for nature enthusiasts. With its lush green hills, crystal-clear waters, and hidden beaches, Arrábida offers countless opportunities for hiking, swimming, and photography. Don’t miss Praia dos Coelhos and Praia da Figueirinha, two of the most beautiful beaches in the region.

**Troia Peninsula**: A short ferry ride from Setúbal takes you to the Troia Peninsula, where you can explore pristine beaches and Roman ruins. The white sandy shores and turquoise waters make it an ideal spot for a relaxing day by the sea.

2. Immerse Yourself in History

**Castelo de São Filipe**: Overlooking the city, this 16th-century fortress offers breathtaking views of Setúbal and the surrounding coastline. Wander through its ancient walls and imagine the history that unfolded here.

**Monastery of Jesus of Setúbal**: This Gothic-style monastery is an architectural gem. Its intricate Manueline details and serene cloisters provide a peaceful escape and a glimpse into Setúbal’s past.

3. Savor the Local Flavors

**Mercado do Livramento**: Voted one of the best markets in the world, Mercado do Livramento is a food lover’s paradise. Here, you can sample fresh seafood, local cheeses, and an array of Portuguese delicacies. Don’t forget to try the oysters – Setúbal is famous for them!

**Kayaking and Paddleboarding**: For the more adventurous, renting a kayak or paddleboard is a fantastic way to explore the coastline and hidden caves of the Arrábida Natural Park.

Where to Stay

**Hotel Casa Palmela**: Located in the heart of Arrábida Natural Park, this charming hotel offers luxury and tranquility amidst nature. Enjoy elegant rooms, a beautiful garden, and stunning views.

**Troia Residence**: For a beachfront stay, consider the Troia Residence, which offers modern apartments with direct access to the beach and the golf course.

Final Tips

– **Best Time to Visit**: Setúbal enjoys a mild climate year-round, but the best time to visit is from late spring to early autumn when the weather is perfect for outdoor activities and beach visits.
– **Local Events**: Check out the Festa de São Sebastião in January or the Festa de Nossa Senhora da Anunciada in September for a taste of local culture and traditions.

🎂Birth”week” memories. But feel free to take it as 🎂Birth”week” memories. But feel free to take it as a mini “where to eat today” guide. 🍝Told you that I am celebrating not the age that comes but the year that has passed with all the ups, downs, happy times, lessons… Birthdays started feeling more important ever since. So this year, just like the previous ones, every moment was special, every company was dear to me. Thankful to all ♥️.🎂Doğum “haftası” (evet) anıları… ♥️ ....#lisbon #wheretoeat #cheers #minifoodguide #lizbon
A hidden gem in Príncipe Real, Bettina Corallo fee A hidden gem in Príncipe Real, Bettina Corallo feels like stepping into a love story…🍫☕️Everything here is made from scratch — from beans grown in São Tomé to chocolate crafted without additives, just pure cacao magic🪄Order a a cup of good coffee, pick your chocolate (will be a hard one among all those varieties but another good reason to keep coming back), and sit close — it’s tiny, intimate, and smells unreal✨This isn’t just chocolate or just coffee… it’s a whole experience of slow moments, deep flavors, and conversations that last longer than planned.Save this for your next Lisbon date 🤍#lisbondate #lisbonspots #coffeelover #chocolatelover #principeReal lisbon guide / date ideas / lizbon / lisbon daily plan / what to do in Lisbon today / chocolatier / lizbon rehberi /
📰This week’s tasty stops are here👆🏻 #minifoodguide 📰This week’s tasty stops are here👆🏻 #minifoodguide1)🌯 Turquaz - Finally a decent option for Turkish food in Portugal. Mainly eastern Turkish food but there are some meze (sort of Turkish tapas) options , as well as Iskender (another type of kebap from Bursa) 🥙We tried, içli köfte (meat stuffed bulgur balls); kebap mix, lahmacun (Turkish flatbread ancestor to pizza) and fırında sütlaç (rice pudding oven-caramelised version). And not to forget “Ayran” (Turkish refreshening drink with yoghurt, salt and water) and finished with black tea (of course 😎)They were all almost as close to the ones in Turkiye but my favorite was lahmacun 🤤. Finally a good place to relieve cravings of Turkish food. There is some space for improving but since they have just opened, it will get better in time. One little suggestion would be for interiors which would have been better with warmer colors or decoration that would elevate the whole experience.More info @turquaz.pt _____2)🥢 Luka Eatery — We stumbled upon this spot completely by chance, and it turns out it’s quite popular! Luka Lisbon is the sister restaurant of the 7-year-old Luka Bangkok, featuring a menu inspired by flavors from Thailand, Korea, China, Indonesia, and Vietnam. We ordered the General Tso’s Cauliflower, Kimchi Fried Rice with Chicken, and Salmon Curry — all of which were really satisfying. They also offer brunch options with an East Asian twist, which makes it a versatile choice any time of day.I especially loved the cozy atmosphere, with its small boho details. It’s a great setting for everything from relaxed dinners with friends to casual nights out.More info @lukalisboa.hi ____3) Castro - After the original pastel de Belem, my favorite go-to pastel de nata place. It is a perfect little finish to top off your dinner. I like to take a little walk so I feel less guilty for the calories ;) and to enjoy it with their tasty cup of “abatanado bem cheio” ☕️More info : @castro_atelier_lisboa (More in the comments below) 👇🏻
